Island Biševo

Island is located in the group of islands in the centre Dalmacie, 4km on the southwest from island Vis. The most high point is Strazebnica (239m). Several of permanent and several of season’s occupier live in the little villages as Salbunara, Mezuporat and Porat by the bays and in the village Potok, which is located at small plateau at the peak of island between the vineyard and olive trees.

Around the coast are little caves, the famous one is Modra spilja in the bay Balun. It became to be famous in year 1884 and was compare with the bay Grotta Azzura at island Capri in Italy. The sun races are broken and put the silver-blue light at cave. The best time to see this is between 9:30 and 11:30 in the morning. It is possible to get there from the sea – on the boat or people can dive in. At Bisevo is lot of houses which is possible to rent. The Benedict monastery St. Silvestar was established in year 1050, but was leave about 200 years later because pirate attacks made the place dangerous. Monks moved in the town Komiza at island Vis. Salbunara is narrow bay with sandy beach, 20 km long and 1,5 km deep harbour.
